UL 275-2013 pdf download – Automotive Glass-Tube Fuses.
1 Scope 1 .1 These requirements cover glass-tube fuses intended for the protection of automotive wire and automotive apparatus. 1 .2 These requirements do not cover glass-tube fuses intended for use in circuits rated above 32 volts. 1 .3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the standard was developed and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. 2 Units of Measurement 2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are explanatory or approximate information. 3 Components 3.1 Except as indicated in 3.2, a component of a value covered by this standard shall comply with the requirements for that component. 3.2 A component need not comply with a specific requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristic not needed in the application of the component in the value covered by this standard, or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard.
.7 General 7.1 The following tests are to be conducted in an ambient temperature of 65 – 90°F (1 8.3 – 32.2°C), and with the fuses in the horizontal position. 7.2 Fuses subjected to the Carrying Capacity Test, Section 8, may be used for the Overload, Section 9, and Cycling Test, Section 1 0. 8 Carrying Capacity 8.1 The fuses shall carry 1 1 0 percent of rated current continuously. 8.2 It is judged that a fuse will carry the current continuously when it has carried the current long enough to produce constant temperatures as determined by a glass-bulb mercury thermometer in contact with the fuse. 9 Overload 9.1 The fuses shall blow in less than 1 hour when carrying 1 35 percent of rated current. 9.2 Fuses shall blow in less than 1 0 seconds when carrying 200 percent of rated current. 10 Cycling Test 1 0.1 Fuses shall not blow during a 50,000 cycle load test. 1 0.2 Each cycle shall consist of the alternate application of 70 percent of rated amperes and zero load for 1 0 second intervals. MARKING 11 General 1 1 .1 The manufacturer’s or private labeler’s name or identifying symbol and the ampere rating shall be stamped on one cap of each fuse. 1 1 .2 If a manufacturer produces fuses at more than one factory, each fuse shall have a distinctive marking to identify it as the product of a particular factory.
